Chaliye Ab batlate hai ki kyu In saaton states ko “Seven Sisters”  kaha jata hai, iske peeche ek bohot hi interesting geography aur interdependence ki kahani hai. Yahan iska ek quick aur clear summary hai

Naam Kisne Diya? (The Origin)
Yeh term sabse pehle 1972 mein ek famous journalist aur civil servant Jyoti Prasad Saikia ne coin kiya tha. Jab 1972 mein Northeast ke naye states form ho rahe the, tab unhone ek radio talk show ke dauran in states ko “Seven Sisters” bulaya. Baad mein unhone ispar ek book bhi likhi jiska naam tha “The Land of Seven Sisters”, jiske baad yeh naam poore India mein famous ho gaya.

Kyu Kaha Jata Hai ‘Sisters’? (The Main Reasons)
Geographical Isolation & Unity: Yeh saaton states ek contiguous block (ek sath jude hue) hain. Yeh baki India se sirf ek bohot hi patle raste—Siliguri Corridor (jise Chicken’s Neck bhi kehte hain)—ke zariye jude hain. Inki location inhe baaki desh se thoda alag, par aapas mein bohot kareeb rakhti hai.

Mutual Interdependence (Ek Dusre Par Nirbhar): In states ka ek dusre ke bina survive karna mushkil hai. Example ke liye, Assam baaki 6 states tak pahunchne ka main ‘gateway’ hai. Transport, communication, aur economy ke liye yeh sabhi “behnein” ek dusre par heavily dependent hain.

Similar Social Structure & Culture: Halanki har state ki apni alag tribes aur languages hain, lekin unka basic lifestyle, nature ke sath unka deep connection, aur tribal social structure ek jaisa hi hai. Mainland India ke comparison mein, inki vibe aur culture aapas mein bohot zyada match karte hain.

Shared History & Challenges: Azaadi ke baad se in states ne lagbhag ek jaisi hi political aur geographical challenges face ki hain. In sabka safar aur development ek family ki tarah ek dusre ke sath jud kar hi aage badha hai.

Special Mention: The “Brother” State – Sikkim 🏔️

img: Memphis Tours

Halanki Sikkim is geographically alag hai, par 2002 ke baad se yeh is pariwar ka ‘Brother‘ ban gaya. Khangchendzonga peak ki shadow mein basa yeh state cleanliness aur spirituality ka ek alag hi standard set karta hai.
